Over at the Consumerism Commentary (yeah, the links aren’t set up yet. Give it time.) Flexo had a guest post by Penelope Trunk. The title is The Recession Won’t Hit Generation Y (And Take Advantage of That).
As a youngin’ (I think I am in Generation Y, I have no real idea), it is rather comforting to think that I don’t have to worry too much about being downsized. Of course, then I remember that I am not a “skilled” laborer like the article mentions, and I work for a small company, which may or may not need a receptionist/ office manager/ accounts payable/ grocery shopper/ etc etc if things get rough. Yeah, I have a degree, in theater. That’s not going to do much for me. So I guess I will just take comfort in knowing that my husband will be graduating, hopefully soon, and he WILL be skilled, and in great demand. Short post today I know, but that’s how it is some days. I have never been a writer. This is something to think about for us young peoples though.

Yeah, I have an English degree which might as well be lumped in with Theater to create a super-almost useless degree. They could call it a Thenglish degree, and it can be used to increase the unemployed population.
