Holiday Crunch Time

I went to Walmart on Monday, and they were playing Christmas music! Ugh. I am starting the "Save Thanksgiving" campaign. I HATE that Thanksgiving gets totally overrun by Christmas. I love Thanksgiving. The cook in me loves cooking so much food. The glutton in me loves eating all the glorious food. I also hate that Christmas has become totally commercialized and not about Christ at all, but that is another topic entirely. I love the harvest themes of Thanksgiving. I am totally bringing the Thanksgiving tablecloth with me to my mom's house. I don't care if it doesn't fit her table, though I think it probably will.

I am freaking out a little about how close Thanksgiving is. I have set a bunch of deadlines for myself of stuff I want done before then- like Christmas shopping for my family so we can take the gifts with us instead of shipping them, baking bread, making pumpkin pie filling. I try not to stress about it. I also need to make at least one diaper to see if it works, because Jo-Ann's is having a sale on suedeclothe next week, which I have been informed makes excellent diaper interiors and is MUCH cheaper than the other options I have pursued (at least while it is on sale). So I have a lot of sewing and shopping and general home-making in my future. Then after Thanksgiving, I can rest for a while, though I do have a new tablecloth I want to make for Christmas. I don't want to give it away, but I am excited for the pattern I chose. (Why do tablecloths make me happy? I don't know. I don't want to know.)

I'll sign your petition. I can't stand the Christmas stuff out BEFORE Halloween. Christmas can have the month of December. That's it. And what's with this Christmas in July stuff?

Christmas has always been commercialized, dating back to why it was set in December for all the pagan conversion attempts. Evidence points to Jesus the Christ being born in April anyway.

Hey, nice skirt. It looks like a tablecloth. :) I couldn't resist. I'm sure your Thanksgiving tablecloth will be as pretty as, probably prettier than, that skirt was. Hahahaha.
